Thomas Alfa Edison 164th Birthday

Today is Thomas Alva Edison’s 164^th Birthday and to mark the occasion Google has created a brand new Doodle. The Doodle shows some of Edison’s most famous inventions which has been animated using a series of 22 jpg images.
The Doodle shows a blinking light bulb in the place of the letter L, the incandescent light bulb was one of Edison’s most important inventions and revolutionised the way people lit their homes and more importantly paved the way for more inventions and technology.
Edison wasn’t a one trick pony though; he holds 1,093 US patents plus patents in the UK, France and Germany. He opened a commercial electric station in New York City that served 85 customers, owned one of the first film studios called “Black Maria” and many other achievements that would make modern day inventors blush.
The Doodle has moving belts, a flashing light bulb and other moving elements but it is all done in a nostalgic way – a fitting tribute to a man who gave birth to the earliest versions of today’s modern marvels.
